EXIDA releases SILStat Operation and Mainenance Data Collection Software

Exida, a global supplier of functional safety products, services and certifications has released SILStat, software that helps evaluate risk reduction by collecting and analyzing operation and maintenance data.

The tool captures key operational and maintenance data, including equipment failures, process demands, success or failure of protection layers and proof test results. The data is reviewed and analyzed as required by the IEC 61511 / ISA 84.00.01-2004 standard and as part of compliance with an OSHA PSM Mechanical Integrity Program.

“The SILStat software addresses one of our most frequently asked questions: I’ve designed this Safety Instrumented System (SIS); now how do I determine how well it works in my plant,” says Iwan van Beurden, exida director of engineering. “Data collected by SILStat can help determine the actual risk posed by a hazardous situation and the effectiveness of the individual layers of protection. Comparing actual vs. expected risk reduction allows safety practitioners to evaluate the effectiveness of their process safety design.”

EtherNet to IP Server to IEC-61850 Intelligent Gateway

ProSoft Technology's EtherNet/IP to IEC 61850 gateway enables communication between the Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) on an IEC- 61850 network and Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs) on an EtherNet/IP network.

The module operates as an EtherNet/IP server, supporting both Class 1 and Class 3 EtherNet/IP services. Primary data transfer is performed through a Class 1 server connection supporting up to 10 Implicit I/O connections. Additionally the module can also communicate with up to 2 other EtherNet/IP Clients using Class 3 messaging services.

The gateway’s IEC 61850 Client is responsible for obtaining data from up to 20 IED devices on a 61850 network (servers). The network configuration software uses IED configuration files to import complex IEC 61850 data structures and allow this information to be mapped into a RSLogix 5000 based ControlLogix or CompactLogix PAC.

Yokogawa Releases FieldMate™ R2.05 Versatile Device Management Wizard

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has announced that it will release the FieldMate™ R2.05 Versatile Device Management Wizard on August 6. FieldMate is a versatile software program for configuring, adjusting, and managing a wide variety of field sensors used in factories and other production sites.

With this upgraded version, German, French, and Russian support has been added, and new tools that facilitate the verification of AXF flowmeter integrity and the installation of new sensor models are available.

As plants often have sensors from multiple vendors that rely on more than one communications standard, versatile software tools are required for device configuration, adjustment, and management. FieldMate, an open standard software package, is ideal for such requirements. FieldMate supports sensors from Yokogawa and other manufacturers, as well as major field communications technologies and standards such as FDT/DTM*. This upgraded version of FieldMate offers improved multi-language support as well as tools that facilitate flowmeter integrity verification and sensor replacement. Yokogawa will use this new version to expand its business in the device maintenance market.

Product Features

  1. Improved multi-language support
In addition to Japanese, English, and Chinese, support of German, French, and Russian has been added with this new version of FieldMate, better positioning this product to capture a larger share of the European market and the growing Russian market.
  2. AXF verification tool (optional)
A verification tool has been developed for checking the integrity of AXF electromagnetic flowmeters. With this tool, customers can inspect ADMAG AXF series magnetic flowmeters without having to disconnect them from the piping. Device maintenance information reports are automatically compiled and stored in a database for retrieval and printing out.
  3. Convenient tool for sensor replacement
A convenient tool has been developed that makes it easier to replace a sensor with one of a different model. This tool backs up the parameters of existing devices and restores them in new devices. It can be used with differential pressure/pressure transmitters, which are used in large numbers at all kinds of production sites.
  4. Enhanced ISA100.11a support
FieldMate can automatically configure, adjust, and manage ISA100.11a compliant wireless devices via the Yokogawa Field Wireless Management Station. A new version of this gateway device is scheduled to be released by the end of July. Through this new gateway device, FieldMate will be capable of connecting to up to 200 ISA100.11a field wireless devices, which compares to 50 devices with the previous gateway version.
