The new DMU-5010, Ethernet I/O module which supports the Modbus TCP protocol has been designed specifically for wind power equipment monitoring and general automation, has been toughened up and given even greater performance. Now, with a cast iron casing and greater range of Digital input (DI) and Digital Output (DO) ports located at the front of the module it’s even easier to mount and wire the DMU-5010 on DIN-Rails or walls.
With support for daisy chaining, which makes it easy to use, it also has 8 x AI channels, 8 x DI channels and 4 x DI/DO channels. This flexibility ensures that the DMU-5010 can be connected to many different devices without the need to buy additional modules, thereby saving maintenance issues, additional costs and the need for a separate Ethernet switch.
Designed to work in the most extreme environments, the DMU-5010 will work in temperatures as low as -20°C and as high as 70°C, making it ideal for monitoring wind farms located in the wilderness.
With support for industrial Modbus/TCP protocol, the DMU can communicate with any Modbus such as PLC, IPC, UNO and WebAccess and so on. To aid system management, system engineers can quickly develop management tools using the Advantech Domain Focused Configuration Tool.

Smar AuditFlow V7 has been granted another important certification in the legal metrology area. In addition to INMETRO approval, the system now has certification from NMi, the technical agency located in Dordrecht, Netherlands. This certification complies with the Measuring Instruments Directive (2004/22/EC) responsible for the area in Europe. The directive was issued on April 2004 and the legal implementation measure has a transition period from October 2006 to October 2016. The great novelty in the new legislation is the approval of a model with automatic validity in all European Union countries. Prior to it, the model approval was required by the metrology agency of each country.
Technip has been awarded by Forest BtL Oy a contract, worth approximately €5 million, for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of a new second generation biomass-to-liquid* (BTL) plant to be built on Ajos island, Finland. This plant will produce approximately 140,000 tons of biodiesel and naphtha from wood and by-products from the wood-processing industry. This feedstock has many advantages as it is not used for human food, it does not jeopardize the existing local biomass usage and has a low CO2 footprint.

Progea is ofering two Basic Training Courses on Movicon for June on the 11th and 18th June held live on webinar from our offices in Switzerland. The courses will be held in the morning from 9am to 12 noon and repeated in an afternoon session from 2pm to 5pm. The course will be held by our technical staff and will focus on facilitating first-time Movicon project development. The objective is to train design engineers, who operate in the world of automation, by starting with the basic skills to reduce time needed to be operative by means of developing supervision projects with Movicon. Arguments on the agenda include ways to approach the Movicon work space, project structures, RealTime database tag management, Communication Drivers, graphical interface based on screen vectorial objects and symbols and alarm management. This course is designed for potential clients in all sectors, in particular system integrators.
