Exida, an accredited global functional safety certification company, has issued a functional safety certification per the IEC 61508 and several application standards for the Emerson Process Management DeltaV CHARMS SIS product line.

“The DeltaV CHARMS SIS is an advanced fault tolerant architecture with great flexibility,” says Dr. William Goble, exida Principal Engineer. “It is also the first design I have seen with cybersecurity considered in the design.”

“Exida demands a high level of quality and care in both processes and documentation,” says Dave Denison, Emerson Project Manager. “We selected them due to their technical expertise in functional safety.”

“Exida is the only Certification Body that covers both functional safety and cybersecurity,” added Keith Bellville, Emerson Product Marketing Manager. “The exida certification will give our customers additional confidence in our products.”

CB&I has announced today that it has been awarded a project valued in excess of US$180 million by HYUNDAI Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI).

CB&I's scope of work, which will commence in the first quarter, includes detailed engineering design and procurement services for the spar topside that is part of Statoil's Aasta Hansteen field development project off the coast of Norway.  When operation begins, the production platform will be the world's largest, capable of producing 812 million cubic feet (23 million cubic meters) of gas a day and storing 160,000 barrels of condensate.

“We are pleased to work with HHI on this landmark project,” said Lasse Petterson, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “The award builds on our extensive work history engineering offshore topsides and our successful track record on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.”

Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract for supplying turbo compressors and mechanical drive gas turbines for a major Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Malaysia. The project will help to improve overall plant efficiency and minimize gas flaring at the Petronas Bintulu LNG Plant in Sarawak, East Malaysia.

The target of the multimillion-dollar LNG project is to reliquefy excessive Boil-Off Gas (BOG) evaporating out of the LNG storage tanks, and currently flared. It will deploy the world's first gas-turbine-driven cryogenic-temperature BOG turbo compressor from Siemens.

"This order represents a major milestone for Siemens and the LNG industry," says Adil Toubia, CEO of the Oil & Gas Division at Siemens Energy. "Instead of being flared, the boil-off gas will be reliquefied, converted into LNG and routed back to the LNG storage tanks. The project benefits are immense since it will not only increase the LNG production rate and improve plant efficiency but also significantly minimize greenhouse gas emissions".

The LNG project in Sawarak is implemented by MLNG (Malaysia LNG), a subsidiary of Petronas. Engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPC) is contracted to Munich-based LINDE Engineering. These companies are thus pioneering world-scale Boil-Off Gas reliquification within LNG plants and are implementing technology from Siemens to improve efficiency and help to reach international emission standards.

Fluor Corporation has announced today that it has secured a contract for engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for BASF’s toluene diisocyanate (TDI) Complex project at BASF’s site in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Fluor booked the undisclosed value into backlog in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The single-train, 300,000 metric tons-per-year plant will produce TDI and expand additional plants as precursors for polyurethanes at the BASF site in Ludwigshafen. Production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2014. Fluor has been involved in the project since 2011 performing support services for both the pre-front-end engineering and design (pre-FEED) and the FEED work for this project. TDI is a key component used for polyurethane foams. To a large extent, it is used in the automotive industry (e.g., seating cushion and interior applications) as well as in the furniture segment (e.g., flexible foams for mattresses, cushions or wood coating).

“Fluor continues to expand its long resume for the design and construction of new chemicals plants led from our Haarlem operations center,” said Peter Oosterveer, president of Fluor’s Energy & Chemicals Group.

Fluor’s Haarlem, the Netherlands, operations center will lead the project with support from Gliwice, Poland. More than 800 Fluor craft workers are contributing to the construction of the facility expansion.

Mobile Measurement Solutions

Technip has been awarded by Sarawak Shell Berhad an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning contract for two new gas-export lines at the Laila and D12 fields, respectively located 50 kilometers Northwest of Miri, at a water depth of 75 meters, and 140 kilometers offshore Bintulu, Malaysia, at a water depth of 50 meters.

The contract covers the:

• design, fabrication and installation of a five-kilometer flexible pipe and a ten-kilometer flexible pipe respectively of 7” and 12.8” diameters,
• diver installation of riser(1) clamps at both jacket platforms,
• pre-commissioning of the flowlines(2),
• project management.

Technip’s operating center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is executing the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in the first semester of 2014. The flexible flowlines will be manufactured at Technip’s Asiaflex Products plant, in Tanjung Langsat, Malaysia. Technip’s new-built multipurpose installation and construction vessel, the Deep Orient, will be used for the installation.

Technip has been awarded by BP Angola an important five-year contract* for engineering and modification services for the existing Greater Plutonio and Plutao, Saturno, Venus and Marte (PSVM) floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, located in Blocks 18 and 31 offshore Angola.

This contract follows the successful completion of a previous five-year contract for engineering services for the Greater Plutonio FPSO. This new award covers two FPSOs and involves not only engineering, but also procurement and management of offshore and onshore construction activities.

Technip’s operating center in Luanda, Angola will carry out the contract, which is scheduled for completion at the end of 2017.

Cloudruge, Ltd has released the alpha version of its free Online Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS), known as cloudruge on the 13th of February, 2013.
