MatrikonOPC™ has announced the release of its updated OPC server for Allen Bradley, which expands the range of supported Allen Bradley devices, improves performance and simplifies configuration. Additional devices supported include ControlLogix, MicroLogix, and PLC5s - providing users with comprehensive, open access connectivity for their Allen Bradley PLCs.

The Allen Bradley OPC Server includes built-in security that protects data from un-authorized user access by allowing administrators to define exactly what data is visible to which users based on each user’s Windows login credentials. This means the Allen-Bradley OPC Server plays an active role in maintaining data integrity.

National Instruments has announced CLED, a new certification option for embedded control and monitoring experts. Engineers with the CLED certification must be NI Certified LabVIEW Developers (CLDs) or NI Certified LabVIEW Architects (CLAs) and have proven technical skill using NI LabVIEW system design software and NI RIO hardware. The CLED certification exams will be available at the end of April.

“At NI, we’re dedicated to making sure that engineers and scientists are successful with our tools,” said Tamra Kerns, director of worldwide services at National Instruments. “The CLED certification confirms that a developer has expertise using our software and hardware for even the largest, most complicated embedded systems projects.”

KBR HAS announced it was selected by a major supplier of agricultural products to perform turnaround services for their ammonia furnace revamp and expansion project in Borger, Texas.

KBR will provide turnaround construction and project management services for the shutdown, maintenance and retubing of the ammonia furnace scheduled to take place in August 2013. The plant turnaround services are expected to increase efficiencies and extend the operational life of the KBR-designed furnace.

“This award introduces KBR’s Specialty Fields Services into the ammonia furnace revamp business,” said Ivor Harrington, Group President, KBR Services. “We see strong growth opportunity in this area of turnaround execution capabilities and are committed to expanding our foothold in the ammonia industry.”
