Advantech introduces PROFINET Remote I/O Modules for the ADAM-6100 Series

Advantech’s ADAM-6100 series now has a new range of five PROFINET certified Industrial Ethernet Remote I/O modules:

Designed with 2,500 VDC isolated protection, these modules are very resistant to field interference. They are also equipped with the PROFINET protocol, and allow daisy chain connections, making it possible to transfer data much faster during process control and other industrial automation applications. Daisy chain connectivity provides a more scalable system with fewer wires to help avoid interference common in factory settings.

The ADAM-6100 series can also be mounted in different ways depending on different field situations, such as DIN-rail mounting, wall mounting, and piggybacked. More importantly, Advantech Adam/Apax .NET Utility comes bundled with each ADAM-6100 module, allowing users to configure, set, and test ADAM-6100 modules through Ethernet.

Yokogawa Australia secures Supply Bid on a Major Gas Project

Yokogawa Australia has won a supply bid from Bechtel for integrated control and safety systems for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project west of Onslow, Western Australia. The contract, which is worth approximately AUD $20 million, will see the majority of the manufacturing work completed at Yokogawa facilities in Australia.

Yokogawa will be supplying the CENTUM® VP integrated production control system, the ProSafe®-RS safety instrumented system, and the Plant Resource Manager (PRM) plant asset management system for two LNG trains that will have a combined capacity of 8.9 million tons per annum.

This supply win follows Yokogawa's involvement in the upstream portion of the Wheatstone Project, where Yokogawa was awarded the supply of control systems for the control and safety systems for the subsea controllers and the topside offshore infrastructure.

Yokogawa Australia's Managing Director, John Hewitt, comments as follows on how the latest Bechtel supply win underscores the recognized competence and experience of Yokogawa Australia in major LNG projects:

"Yokogawa Australia has a dedicated team of highly skilled process and IT engineers and support staff (57 of whom are based in Perth) providing the enabling technology to a number of key projects in Western Australia, notably in the oil and gas and minerals processing industries. Yokogawa opened a new Perth office in 2010 after 21 years in WA, and is currently doubling its office space to support these projects and provide training in our systems. Yokogawa Australia is developing into a center of excellence for LNG projects as measured by total gas train capacity which will be controlled by Yokogawa's VigilantPlant system. Each project comes with its individual challenges and Yokogawa has responded by tailoring solutions including involvement in the front end engineering and design of these key installations and supply of engineering design, fully integrated control systems, and precision instrumentation. We are also an active participant in the Australian Industry Participation Plan and have both involved and enabled local product and service suppliers to work with Yokogawa on these major projects, utilizing the services of the Industry Capability Network (ICN) network around Australia. Yokogawa has an enviable reputation as a provider of ultra-reliable control systems and instrumentation and is ideally placed to meet the demand for state-of-the-art control systems for these landmark Australian projects which will supply energy to the world for decades to come."
