Amplicon adds two new industrial grade Wi-Fi access points

Amplicon have added two new industrial grade Wi-Fi access points to their portfolio from industry leading manufacturer Moxa. The AWK-3131 and the AWK-4131 have been designed to meet the growing demands for faster data transmission speeds and wider signal coverage.

These new models support IEEE 802.11n which incorporates MIMO technology for data-rates of up to 300Mbps and reliability unrivalled by any previous Wi-Fi technology. Key features include compatibility on either the 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency bands, backwards-compatibility with existing 802.11a/b/g wireless client devices and Turbo roaming for faster client roaming speeds. Dual redundant power inputs, PoE (802.3af) compatibility and a selection of models with different operating temperatures make these access points the perfect choice for installations where commercial grade equipment is simply not suitable.

The AWK-3131 is designed for industrial indoor environments, where as the AWK-4131 has an outdoor IP67 rated enclosure with M12 connectors for secure, sealed connections which are extremely resilient to shock and vibrations.

Fieldbus Foundation Announces First H1 ITK 6.0 Registered Devices

AUSTIN, Texas, December 13, 2011 – The Fieldbus Foundation today announced that it has registered the first FOUNDATION™ fieldbus devices based on its H1 Interoperability Test Kit (ITK) Version 6.0.Emerson Process Management and Yokogawa supplied the registered H1 (31.25 kbit/s) devices, which were tested for their functionality and conformity with the FOUNDATION function block and transducer block specifications.

Emerson’s registered devices include the TopWorx D2-FF Discrete Valve Controller, which combines analog/digital position sensing and monitoring with FOUNDATION fieldbus communications and pilot valve output drivers for on/off applications; and the Rosemount Analytical 1066 pH Transmitter, which measures pH and ORP/Redox, and provides comprehensive sensor, transmitter, and calibration diagnostics to the bus via field diagnostics.

Yokogawa's registered devices are enhanced pressure transmitters featuring innovations in multi-sensing technology that makes optimal use of the powerful characteristics of a single-crystal silicon resonant sensor. They also support AR, IS, SC, IT and PID function blocks; NE107 field diagnostics; and software download function.

Weidmüller wins the Siemens Supplier Award

Detmold, 25 Nov. 2011 - Siemens honours its best suppliers each year – for those companies with long-term and profoundly optimised processes throughout the shared supply chain, technological expertise, sustainability, global presence and innovation. Weidmüller was nominated in the categories of sustainability, global value sourcing and drive through innovation. They were honoured as a finalist in the category "Best Overall Supplier 2011".

The prize was given to Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Volpert Briel by Barbara Kux, a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG, Head of Supply Chain Management and Chief Sustainability Officer, in a ceremony for the Third Siemens Supplier Forum in Feldafing, Germany.

"This prize is a confirmation for us that we create added value for our customers through our innovation and our service," enthused Briel. He then took the trophy with him to Nürnberg to the SPS/IPC DRIVES automation trade fair, where it received a place of honour at Weidmüller's exhibition stand. "We are very proud of this award. Amplicon introduces a complete edge-to-core networking solution

High capacity, high performance and high availability: These are but a few buzzwords which describe Moxa's new range of industrial grade, modular, rack-mount switches.

The ICS-G7748, G7750 and G7752 are layer 2 "core" switches, meaning they are designed to handle the central backbone of large distributed automation networks, their modular design allows them to populate up to 48 x Gb and up to 4 x 10Gb Ethernet ports; media types include copper via RJ-45 and many different fibre types via SFP interfaces.

ICS-G7848, G7850 and G7852 are the layer 3 equivalents, which introduce the routing intelligence required to facilitate internetwork communication.

The ICS series offers far more than others in its class with advanced features to provide a truly rugged, highly reliable product. The ICS series has fan-less operation, even when fully populated with fibre; dual isolated power supplies, both hot-swappable and load-sharing; hot-swappable Ethernet modules, a comprehensive link layer redundancy protocol suite and a 0-60°C operating temperature range.
